Historical Note:

Victor A. Wright was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and moved to Miami in 1918. He attended Miami Senior High School and Tulane University. He learned to fly with Curtiss Wright in Miami, and then worked for Pan Am from 1930-1962.

In 1930, he worked as a copilot and flight engineer on weekly flights from San Juan, Puerto Rico, to Belem, Brazil. In April 1935, he was the flight engineer in the six member crew that made Pan Am’s initial survey flight across the Pacific in a Sikorsky S-42. He also participated on the survey flight from San Francisco to New Zealand and was onboard the China Clipper’s first flight to Hong Kong. Wright became a Captain and flew Latin American routes for Pan Am until his retirement in the early 1960s. Victor Wright passed away in 1967.
