Historical Note:

Alexis Rodriguez-Duarte is a Cuban photographer born in Havana in 1962. Exiled with his parents during the Freedom Flights of 1968, Rodriguez-Duarte was raised in Miami and has lived in New York since 1992. His interest in photography was sparked at the age of 10 when his grandfather gave him his first camera, a Voightlander.

Rodriguez-Duarte has been an adjunct professor at New York's International Center for Photography. With his work featured in Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, L'Uomo Vogue and The New Yorker, among others, Rodriguez-Duarte has also displayed his photographs in solo and group exhibitions in Miami, London, Los Angeles and New York. His sitters have included such Cuban personalities as Andy Garcia, Gloria Estefan, Narciso Rodriguez and Celia Cruz. In his work he has collaborated extensively with his partner, Tico Torres.
